The Elk Research Institute is a nonprofit organization promoting a specific genotype of elk that is showing resistance to Chronic Wasting Disease. The herd and environment are NEVER exposed to CWD. The herd of ERI has enjoyed an excellent health status for over 10 years. Hunting is used to manage herd numbers, genotypes, sex ratios, age, etc. For more information regarding ERI's mission, please call 970-749-4647. The 1500 acre preserve of ERI is located just 15 miles southwest of beautiful Durango, Colorado a wonderful vacation destination. Bring your spouse and friends, enjoy a great hunt together or let them enjoy local activities such as riding the Rio Grande Train or visit Mesa Verde while you hunt. The hunt fee includes the guide, a successful hunt well hunt until you are successful, field dressing and loading into your vehicle. Additional services of skinning, quartering, delivery to a local processor or taxidermist can be arranged. There is no extra charge for non-hunting guests. |
