Camp Stanton offers an excellent sporting and recreational opportunity with recent restorations, renovations and additions focused on creating a world class boutique wilderness resort and private retreat. Featuring a classic log lodge built in the 40s by Seabury Stanton (former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway) The property includes approximately five thousand three hundred and eighty meters (5.3km) of frontage and riparian rights on the Cains River with managed forest lands and holdings totalling approximately 600 acres. The property currently has about 20 kilometres of old logging roads, paths and trails meandering through areas of old growth white pine and black spruce forests to plantations, streams and beaver dams. Work is now underway developing a multiple- use trail system.There are 8 named salmon pools within the bounds of the property. Of these, 3 have cold water tributaries flowing into the Cains which provide a cool, well oxygenated environment conducive to holding salmon. Sabbies River Pool (homempool) Salmon Brook Pool and Picard Brook Pool hold fish throughout the summer.The main lodge covers over 2000 square feet with an additional 1000 square feet of covered and screened verandas. There are four double suites with private four and five piece bathrooms. Bedrooms are appointed with two quality double beds, fine quality linens and feather duvets with covers. Bathrooms are all new with various configurations from large claw foot cast iron tubs and separate showers or deep soaker tubs and cedar steam/shower rooms. The master suite is somewhat removed from the three main lodge rooms and has an outside entry and garden doors to its own private veranda overlooking the home pool. The great room features a huge stone fire place and appropriate surrounding over sized leather wing back chairs and chesterfield complemented with appropriate occasional tables and accessories. The dining area features a custom Pennsylvania barn board table and Windsor chairs. The front of the main lodge is surrounded on three sides by a covered and furnished veranda that extends outwards past the 8ft cedar hot tub and will soon connect via boardwalk to the “Summer Kitchen” a new 16x20 post and beam rectangle gazebo perched right at the river’s edge overlooking the home pool. The back of the main lodge consists of the kitchen area with adjoining chef’s quarters and three piece bathroom. The kitchen blends modern technology with appropriate fixtures. The six burner Wolf gas range is surrounded by black quartz countertops and pressed tin backsplash, custom cabinetry work houses a prep sink, a commercial tub sink with T&S, a high efficiency dishwasher and double stainless fridge/freezers. The centerpiece of the kitchen would have to be the 10 foot long 2 inch think maple island top. Leaving the kitchen by the rear entrance leads you to a service/staff deck that houses the gas grills and additional work, storage collection areas. |
